General Information

The date, time and venue for the IWA meet will be fixed by the Secretary in consultation with the President. The entire responsibility of organizing the meet shall be undertaken by Members in rotation. While the administrative and logistic support shall be provided through the coordinator, all other aspects of planning and execution will be handled by the Members themselves.

It shall be the endeavour of IWA to conduct a monthly meet, Summer Bazar in June and a Winter Bazar in December.

The following activities will be included in the monthly meet: 

  • Introduction of new members.

  • Important Announcements

  • Presentation of momentos to outgoing members

Participation in IWA Events

  • Initial e-invites for any planned IWA Meet will be sent to all Members through the Secretary, IWA.

  • All members desirous of attending the scheduled IWA Meet should confirm their presence at least one week prior to the event to enable administrative arrangements by the nominated members (organizers).

  • A Whatsapp group of those attending the event will be created by the Organizing Members to coordinate logistics, confirm attendance and share photographs after the event.

Event Details

Venue:

IWA meets will be held at different places, depending on the theme, weather and purpose of the meet. The options for location could be DP Dhar Hall, JNCC at Embassy of India, Historical / Cultural Centre or any interesting venue.

Timing:

​The meet shall preferably be held in the third week of every month between 1030h to 1230h to accommodate school timings. If a Guest Speaker is available only in the evening, then an exception can be made to hold the meet in a different format.

Guidelines for IWA Meet

  1. The monthly IWA Meet will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines enumerated in the information in the website.

  2. The IWA Meet will be organised in the third week of every month. However, this is not mandatory. Specific date and venue for the meet will be decided by the Steering Committee, in consultation with the Members.

  3. Regular monthly Meets will generally not extend beyond two and half hours and preferably be held between 1030h-1230h to cater for children school timings.

  4. No gift or bouquet will be presented to anyone during the event. Similarly, no return gifts will be encouraged after a regular Meet.

  5. Seating will be in a manner that assists the Members to interact effectively with all other members. No special table or seating for Steering Committee or spouses of Embassy staff is encouraged.

  6. Regular Meet shall be organised in the most simplistic manner where emphasis is on content rather than on peripheral things like decoration etc. No fresh flower arrangements or any kind of ornamentation is necessary.

  7. Meets will aim to be meaningful, rewarding and educative, It may include a visit to cultural/ historical centre, skill demonstration, a group game or/and a round of Tambola. 

  8. Any activity which involves practice/rehearsal e.g dance, group songs etc, if inconvenient to the Members, would be avoided during the regular meets.

  9. As far as feasible, transport for the event may/could be centrally planned through the Embassy.

  10. No religious or political discourse is permitted as part of the IWA agenda.
